While we take care of your progress from being interviewed to your first day in your new job in the UK; There are a few mandatory norms you should comply to get your desired job.

Qualifications Checklist for applicants

For Nurses:

1. Basic Qualification
The NMC requires a UK Level 1 nurse’s qualification or equivalent, for nursing. A Level 1 nursing qualification is obtained by a three-year education programme and awarded with a degree or diploma.

2. English Language Requirements
The English Language requirement is to prove your effective communication in English. Your English communication is assessed in all areas like speaking, writing, listening and reading. Your communication skills can be proven by taking any one of the two globally recognized English Language Tests.



International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS)
An overall score of 7 in IELTS Academic is mandatory for NMC registration. At least 6.5 in the writing element and 7 in the other elements like reading, listening and speaking.

Note: For NMC registrations in the UK, Academic IELTS is required and not General IELTS.

Occupational English Test (OET)
NMC registration will need an OET certificate with at least a C+ grade in the writing section and a grade B or more in reading, listening and speaking sections.

3. Self-Assessment
Your self-eligibility should be proven by filling the NMC self-assessment form in the NMC website. This confirms your eligibility to apply for NMC registration.

You’ll need to confirm that, you meet NMC’s health, good character and English Language requirements.

While you are at it, a confirmation from you, that you will be providing all the necessary documents when needed will also be required.

4. Proving your competency
Post your NMC eligibility confirmation, you will have to sit the CBT (Computer-Based-Test). Pearson Vue are the NMC test providers. Which allows you take the test from any part of the world.

Through this multiple-choice online assessment your theoretical practice-based knowledge will be assessed. The test consists of two parts, Numerical and Clinical. The test which costs £ 83 has to be taken within 6 months of completing your eligibility.

Candidates can book their CBT dates by following the guidelines given according to the region they are sitting the tests from.

5. Providing NMC with your documents
Only after proving your English eligibility, Self-eligibility and passing CBT you will be asked to provide supporting documents for your application.

Please prepare the following documents for submission:

  • Valid Passport
  • Birth Certificate
  • Formal qualification certificates from countries you have been registered and practiced.
  • A full police clearance from each country you have visited or lived in for more than three-months since age of 18.
  • Registration verification from each country you have been registered.
  • Complete your Form to Accompany Transit of Training (FATT) and full transcripts of your training.
  • Fitness certificate or good health declaration from your General Practitioner.


Some relevant forms to be filled can be downloaded from your online portal during your assessment period.

The Application assessment is done within 8 weeks of receiving all your documents. A member of the International Registrations Team. A successful assessment deems you eligible to apply for Band 5 Registered Nurse while you will be holding the status of a pre-registered nurse, it is only after passing your OSCE you will attain the status of a NMC registered nurse in the UK. A successful NMC registration is followed by change in Visa status, and so on and so forth.
